Dr. Joel Schlessinger featured in WebMD the MagazineDr. Joel Schlessinger was featured as an expert in the recent issue of WebMD the Magazine in an article titled Beauty 411. In this article, Dr. Joel Schlessinger discusses why pores become enlarged and how one can keep their appearance minimized.

“Unlike sun damage or smile lines, large pores are one problem you had nothing to do with. You can blame heredity,” says Dr. Joel Schlessinger.

A pore is the visible end of an oil gland. People with oilier skin tend to have more visible pores than those with dry skin. If a pore is clogged with dirt and oil, it can look larger and darker.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger recommends keeping pores as clean and clear as possible as well as using sunscreen regularly to minimize their appearance. However, he does note that no treatment or ingredient can actually shrink pore size.
