Dr. Joel Schlessinger and the FixMySkin Healing Balms are featured in an article on DailyGlow.com

Dr. Joel Schlessinger and his newest invention, FixMySkin Healing Balms, were featured in a recent DailyGlow.com article entitled “7 Surprising Causes of Dry Skin.”

This article highlights seven different causes of dry skin that many people come in contact with daily.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger discusses staying away from harsh detergents, as they strip skin of essential moisture. He warns that you should carefully choose your face wash, body wash and laundry detergent to make sure you are staying away from harsh chemicals and detergents.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger also warns against dry air. Forced air from your air conditioner or furnace can make humidity levels very low. Prevent dry, cracked skin with the FixMySkin Healing Balms with 1% Hydrocortisone to keep your skin moist and protected.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger answers questions about ingrown hairs, treating sunburn and more on TheStyleAndBeautyDoctor.com

Dr. Joel Schlessinger was recently featured as a skin care expert on TheStyleAndBeautyDoctor.com in the article “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly of Summer Skin: How to Tame Ingrown Hairs, Sunburn, and More.” The doctor answers common questions posed by the website’s Facebook fans about how to relieve ingrown hairs, the best remedies for treating sunburn and the best way to remove excess hair with laser hair removal at home.

For getting rid of dark marks on the legs, Dr. Joel Schlessinger recommends using SkinMedica Scar Recover Gel for scars, FixMySkin 1% Hydrocortisone Balms for irritation and NeoStrata Bionic Lotion for large hair follicles.

To remove excess hair on the legs, arms and bikini area, the doctor recommended trying laser hair removal at home. The newest invention is the Tria Laser, an easy-to-use laser hair removal at home treatment that successfully removes stubborn, unwanted hair.

“While it is clearly slower than going to the dermatologist, the treatments are with a bona-fide laser,” says Dr. Joel Schlessinger.

Another question posed to the doctor was how to treat and avoid ingrown hairs.

“Ingrown hairs are caused by aggressive shaving techniques or infected hair follicles,” he said.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger recommends using refined shaving tools such as The Art of Shaving for a close, comfortable shave that helps avoid these pesky hairs.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger also shared the best products for treating sunburn. He recommends Heliocare tablets to boost your immune system before going out in the sun. However, if it is too late, he recommends taking a take an aspirin or other over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine for treating sunburn.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger is featured in a SELF.com article about the potential danger of sunless tanning spray.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger was featured as an expert in SELF.com’s article on sunless tanning spray and its links to skin cancer.

A recent news report by ABC News found that visiting your local spray tanning booth may also be harmful to your health. Studies show that the sunless tanning spray, DHA, has the potential to cause gene mutations. SELF.com interviewed Dr. Joel Schlessinger as well as the FDA to find out more information about this new development.

For now, these findings only apply to sunless tanning spray found in salons. Sunless tanning spray, lotions, creams and foams found in your home products have all been approved for external use.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger said that although a trip to the spray tanning booth may be harmful, it is still safer than a tanning bed. If you do decided to use a spray tanning booth, follow the FDA guidelines and wear a nose plug, eye protection, Vaseline on your lips and underwear.
